Sony a7s City Shots from Brandon Li on Vimeo.

Day 2 with this camera. Rode the Bonaventure elevator up and down at night and at dawn to grab some B-roll for an upcoming project.

I’m really starting to like the a7s under certain circumstances. The low light abilities are far beyond anything I’ve ever seen. I could have blown out the cityscape to almost pure white if I wanted to. And I think it handled the sunrise colors beautifully.

A conceptual video depicting the effects of sounds across our lifetime. The rich tapestry woven in the minds eye against a stark and virtual backdrop. It began as a collaboration with Steve Langmanis who kindly provided me with the RED footage. I applied some VFX for Steve and his imagining of the piece. My own ideas took me on a very different path and this is what was produced.
All the footage was produced on Steve’s RED system. The footage was all shot on a black BG with quite low key. This meant a LOT of rotoscoping and screening throughout. After effects and 3D systems were used in the harming of this video. Also the wonderful Mettle and red giant plugins which always sit in my toolbox.
Hope you enjoy or take something from the piece.

as ever

About the work

One cant even imagine the depth and complexity of what lies under Tokyo.
The underground of Tokyo is comprised of multiple layers of roads, metros, reservoirs, crossing pipes and thousands of lifelines -
huge and complicated structures growing there like the roots of many trees.
This motion graphic work is inspired by the underground of Tokyo and dynamically visualizes the unobservable.

CIRCLE from WOW inc on Vimeo.

About the Work

The skyscape is changing just after dawn. The cityscape is changing just after sunset. We interpret these changes of the scenes as circle of light, and we express the infinity of ECO-DRIVE with the circle. This is a concept movie of ECO-DRIVE for Citizen’s booth at “Basel World 2010” same as 2009.

MOTION from WOW inc on Vimeo.

WOW - Original Work
For WOW, the field of creative design continues to expand, in the areas of spatial installation, user interface design, application design and a range of other developmental fields. It was against this backdrop that this latest original work was produced, and was a great way of getting back to original 3DCG expression, which is WOW’s original field of expertise. This has allowed WOW to revisit its strength and richness of expressive power.

About the Work
Utilizing “particle expression”, “fluid simulation algorithms”, and “dynamics calculations”, all of which are specialities of 3DCG animation, WOW created abstract phenomena and space using wind, fire, water, light and smoke. The sophistication and vibrant movement of dance was expressed through the use of these nature phenomena.
